Santa Barbara Training for the Walk

Preparing for Hills: The Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean provide a beautiful and dramatic backdrop for this year's Santa Barbara Avon Walk. As you prepare for this amazing scenery, you should also prepare to walk hills. We want you to be physically ready for this amazing weekend, click here for helpful tips.

Whatever your fitness level, you can walk the distance with the right preparation! It’s always better to start moderately, and to increase your training in small increments. Pushing yourself to go too far, too fast, will only result in injury. Pace yourself and make the resolve to enjoy the journey!

A great way to get started with your training is to join a volunteer-led training walk, which are free and open to the public. Training Walks are an excellent way to meet other members of the Avon Walk community. See our Training Walk page for additional details.
