Avon Walk for Breast Cancer San Francisco 2014 route map

July 12 - 13, 2014

Walking from Fort Mason to Corte Madera Town Park and Back Again

The walk route to and from Fort Mason and the Wellness Village will weave through gorgeous neighborhoods like North Beach and Pacific Heights and will feature famous landmarks including Fisherman's Wharf, The Ferry Building, and The Presidio. You will walk across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, through Sausalito and the scenic countryside of Marin.

The route itself will be clearly marked with directional signage and other markings. This is how you will navigate the route during the event — by following the signs.

There is also a route support team called "the Sweep Team," which is available to help you while you are on the road between Quick Stops and Rest Stops. Overall, the route will take you through some of San Francisco's most beautiful neighborhoods, and is designed to be safe, fun, and interesting!

Special Route Information Specific to San Francisco

The Wellness Village at Corte Madera Town Park is more than 13.1 miles away from the Closing Ceremony at Fort Mason, which requires a slight shift from the traditional Avon Walk route mileage. Saturday’s route will be 23.8 miles and Sunday’s route will be 15.5 miles in order to keep the combined total mileage over the two days at 39.3 miles. This shift allows for the most scenic route as well as the most desirable locations for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the Wellness Village. For Walkers wishing to walk 26.2 miles on Saturday, an optional 2.5 mile additional loop will be available to ensure the opportunity to walk a full marathon before arriving at the Wellness Village. On Sunday, a bus will be available at the 13.1 mile point to accommodate Walkers who would not like to walk the full 15.5 mile route. It is important to keep in mind that due to San Francisco city bus restrictions, Walkers will not be dropped-off at the finish line arch at the Closing Ceremony.
