Be a Volunteer

Both Volunteers and Crew members are crucial to the Avon Walk experience. What's the difference? The amount of time you can commit. If you're able to commit to the entire Avon Walk weekend, and are 18 or older, please register as a Crew member. Volunteers commit to shorter shifts throughout the Avon Walk weekend and during the months leading up to the Walk for special projects. There are lots of ways to contribute, and we need hundreds of Volunteers to make the Walk possible.

Office Volunteer Nights

We are always looking for Volunteers to come into our office during various weeknights and join us! We have many tasks we work on in preparation for the Event, including local phone support, mailings, data entry, and much more. We also need help during the day. If you are available Monday-Friday, between 9 a.m.-6 p.m., please let us know!

Special Event Volunteers

The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer has a variety of pre-event activities such as our, 10th Birthday Party and Boot Camp where you can meet and greet other Walkers, Crew members and Volunteers who are participating in this year's Walk (or thinking about it). These pre-events are held throughout the year and more information can be found by contacting your local Avon Walk office.

Poster Posse

Are you creative, know someone who is, or just like having paint or magic markers in your hand? Creating motivational, colorful messages of encouragement for the Walkers for us to hang along the route of the 2012 Avon Walk is something you can do all year long. Get your kids involved–friends and family too–and have a "poster-making" party. These words of encouragement are a must-have component for the Walkers, and you'll feel great creating them.

Training Walk Leaders

Do you love the outdoors and enjoy leading the way? You could lead regular training walks throughout your local area. We'll provide training guidelines. You do not need to be a registered Walker or Crew member to lead Training Walks, but you should be able to walk long distances. Training Walks are a great way to build camaraderie and friendships leading up to the event.

Event Support

During the Event weekend, Volunteers are needed at Event Eve (Friday before the Event), Opening Ceremony (Saturday of the Event), along the route at Cheering Stations (Saturday and Sunday during the Event), at Wellness Village to help set up tents for the Walkers (both Saturday and Sunday), and at Closing Ceremony (on Sunday). Help out for a couple of hours or sign up for the whole weekend. It takes hundreds of Volunteers to make the Avon Walk the amazing experience that it is!

Groups

We have many group volunteer opportunities. If you're interested, please contact the local Crew & Volunteer Coordinator and they'll help get your group involved in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Event Volunteer forms are available 8 - 12 weeks before the event. In order to volunteer during the weekend of the Walk, you must complete this form. Please check the website or contact your local Avon Walk office for updates as the event approaches and download the form once it is available.
