Looking for a different way to participate in the Avon Walk? If you’re 18 or older, consider joining our all-volunteer Crew. These are the amazing folks who literally make the Walk happen. As a Crew member, you’ll have specific tasks that span the entire two days of the Walk. With the good feeling they get from helping other, it’s no wonder so many Crew members come back year after year! (If you are unable to commit to the entire weekend but still would like to help out, join us as a Volunteer.)
While Crew members aren’t required to fundraise, many of our Crew members do…and we encourage you to do what you can, too! It’s a way to make your Avon Walk experience even more powerful, and we’ll provide you with the same great support and fundraising tools available to Walkers. Any Crew member raising $500 or more will receive a Fundraising Reward, a special-edition Crew baseball cap.
We recommend attending a Crew Introduction Meeting to learn the basics about the Avon Walk and all that’s involved in being a Crew member. Approximately 4–6 weeks prior to the Walk, we’ll also hold a Crew Training Day for both new and returning Crew members. All Crew members, both new and returning, are required to attend this critical hands-on training, which will serve as final preparation for the Avon Walk weekend. Your Crew & Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with Crew Training Day date and location details as soon as they become available.
The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Youth Crew allows young people (ages 10–16) to participate and experience the entire Walk. This program allows young people to contribute to the Walk in a tangible and productive way. In addition to getting an enormous amount out of their service, we’ve seen that Youth Crew members really enhance the experience of all of our Walk participants!
When choosing a Crew Team preference, please keep in mind the physical requirements of that job. Crew members work many long hours on their feet, and many jobs require lifting. You’ll find complete details of responsibilities and physical requirements when you click on a team selection. All positions listed are for the entire weekend and you must be at least 18 years old to register as a Crew member.

THE AVON WALK YOUTH CREW
Background:
The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Youth Crew allows young people (ages 10-16) to participate and experience the entire Walk. This program allows young people to contribute to the Walk in a tangible and productive way. In addition to getting an enormous amount out of their service, we’ve seen that Youth Crew members really enhance the experience of all of our Walk participants!
Application & Selection Process:
Like any other Crew Team, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Youth Crew has a limited amount of spots (this number varies by city, but is usually between 8 and 20). Potential Youth Crew members complete a formal application, including an essay describing why they want to participate, how they would contribute, and what they would get out of it. Volunteer Youth Crew Team Leaders and Avon Walk Staff review all applications, interview the candidates, and make final selections.
Fundraising:
Youth Crew members register as Crew, but do not pay the registration fee. Each Youth Crew member does, however, commit to raising $500 to be part of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Youth Crew. This fundraising commitment is mandatory.
