THE ROUTE - Walking from Stude Park to Rice University and Back Again
The walk route to and from Stude Park and the Wellness Village will consist mostly of sidewalks and city streets. There may be occasions where the route will take you through some of Houston's stunning parks. The route itself will be clearly marked with directional signage and other markings. This is how you will navigate the route during the event — by following the signs.
There is also a route support team called "the Sweep Team," which is available to help you while you are on the road between Quick Stops and Rest Stops. Overall, the route will take you through some of Houston's most beautiful neighborhoods, and is designed to be safe, fun, and interesting!

Friends and family are more than welcome to park for Opening and Closing Ceremonies, but will not be able to leave cars overnight due to limited parking in the area. Participants who need overnight parking are encouraged to park at the Westin Memorial City and take the shuttle bus to the Opening Ceremony site on Saturday morning.
Complimentary shuttles to Stude Park will run from the Westin Memorial City, between 4:00am – 5:30am Saturday morning. Buses returning to the Westin Memorial City on Sunday will depart immediately after the conclusion of the Closing Ceremony.
WELLNESS VILLAGE - RICE UNIVERSITY

We are pleased to announce that Rice University will host our Wellness Village for a third year in a row. After completing your first day of walking through some of Houston’s most well-known and picturesque neighborhoods, you’ll spend the night at your home-away-from-home, also known as our Wellness Village, conveniently located in the heart of Houston at the prestigious Rice University. Surrounded by the Museum District, Hermann Park and the city of West University Place, Rice University is the ideal Wellness Village.
Parking will be available in the West Lot 3 and there will be a Traffic and Security Crew Team to direct participants, friends and family to the appropriate parking lot. Please use the Entrance 17 off Rice Boulevard to enter the lot.
The Houston METRO system has multiple Rice University stops. The Houston Light Rail is also available with multiple park and ride locations throughout the Medical District and Downtown areas.

For walkers who require overnight accommodations on Friday, April 20, or Saturday, April 21, we have secured a roomblock with special Avon Walk participant rates:
Friday/Saturday Rate: $135 + tax per night for a single or $155 + tax per night for a double. You must indicate that you are part of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in order to secure that rate. This is the most convenient hotel to stay at, since it is the Event Eve host hotel.

Self Parking is available at the Westin Memorial City as well as valet parking. Additional parking is available across the street at the Memorial City Mall at no cost.
